5 Signs that your boiler has a problem and is in need of a boiler repair

Like any mechanical system, your boiler may at time need to be repaired. It is important to have your boiler repair done by a Gas Safe Engineer. Boiler repairs done whenever an issue is found, can help to secure the safety of your home, family and extend the life of your boiler.

BOILER IS MAKING AN UNUSUAL SMELL
If you smell an unusual smell when the heat kicks on is a danger sign that requires immediate action. It could be a sign of a gas leak or a sign of incomplete burning of the gas fuel that could be releasing carbon monoxide into your home. Call a Gas Engineer immediately to check the situation and have your boiler repair done immediately.

BOILER PRESSURE KEEPS DROPPING
If you find that your boiler pressure keeps dropping regularly, that you have to keep topping it up or that your boiler pressure is often high. It could be a that there is a problem with your boiler and you will need to have an engineer have a look.

THE BOILER FLAME IS NOT BLUE
Many Gas boilers have a window that allows you to look at the pilot light or gas flame (if that is possible). If the flame is burning blue, it is a sign of a good flame. If on the other hand, the flame is burning yellow or orange, then it is a sign that there is a problem with your boiler and you will need to call in an engineer to repair it.

THE BOILER IS MAKING A STRANGE NOISE
Your boiler is making a strange noise which could include banging, whistling gurgling noises. They could all be a case of kettling, air has been trapped in the central heating system, low water pressure, system sludge or pump failure. You will need to call for a repair of your boiler for any of these signs from your central heating system.

SOOT ON OR AROUND THE BOILER
If you find that there is soot or discolouration on or around your boiler, it is a sign that you will need to call in an engineer for a boiler repair job.
